Short and Long Term Goals
Providing professional care and compassionate support services to residents by:
- developing a method of assessing the needs of each residents to ensure a level of care that enhances their quality of life;
- promoting gerontology concepts in delivery of care/services at the Foyer;
- increase awareness among the Foyer’s government partners regarding needs in the area of patient care hours;
- promoting the use of the Foyer’s crisis bed.
Providing quality services to family members of residents of the Foyer by:
- ensuring family orientation;
- promoting ongoing communication between families and the Foyer;
- promoting family involvement;
- providing compassion and support services to families.
Recommending legislative measures, rules and regulations, strategies, policies, programs, and standards that promote the development of the Foyer by:
- participating in regional and provincial meetings hosted by the New Brunswick Nursing Home Association and the Catholic Health Association of New Brunswick;
- ensuring the involvement of elected officials in the affairs of the Foyer;
- getting involved, whenever possible,with the Department of Social Development in the development of policies and standards, as well as discussions surrounding operational budgets.
Developing partnerships and networks that support the development of the Foyer by:
- identifying our partners and networks;
- continuing discussions on the possibility of increasing the number of nursing home beds;
- taking an inventory of the province’s specialized resources in the area of gerontology and assessing the possibility of accessing these resources;
- participating and contributing in support groups for families coping with Alzheimer’s disease;
- maximizing the foundation’s role in the development of the Foyer;
- establishing a day center.
Promoting the vision of the Foyer by:
- maximizing the use of existing tools, such as the Code of Ethics, Welcome Guide, and Strategic Plan;
- developing other promotional tools;
- improving existing tools, such as the Foyer’s annual report and use of media.
Ensuring sound management of the Foyer’s human, material, technological and financial resources by:
- submitting the Foyer’s actual annual budget needs to the Department of Social Development;
- ensuring a rigorous quality improvement process;
- reducing the absenteeism rate;
- reducing the number of work-related accidents resulting in loss of work time;
- reviewing the new “Guardian Angels” volunteer program;
- ensuring the annual development of a human resources plan and a training plan.
